It’s interesting just how subjective pain can be when in drops in to visit. When we read articles about pain, or we talk to friends who are hosting pain, it’s a rather objective acknowledgement. “Hosting” or “dropping in” makes it sound like a casual thing, doesn’t it? When it’s not in our living room it doesn’t belong to us. What happens when it not just knocks on your door, but brings in bag and baggage and announces it’s here for the season, or worse yet, permanently? Objectivism then seems to walk out the door as pain walks in and becomes subjective.
Well, God says his grace is sufficient. Marvelous word, sufficient. Whether it’s the smallest ouch, a broken bone, or a major hitch in our life’s get-a-long, sufficient isn’t less than needed nor is it more than needed, it fills the need.
2 Corinthians 12:9 makes it a word that is personally addressed to us and promises us more than his grace, it says that God’s power is made perfect in our weakness, and boy! I know how weak I am. However, he doesn’t leave us in a weakened condition, though our bodies may say otherwise, it’s so Christ’s power can rest upon us. Is his power sufficient? What do you think?
For your encouragement, find a copy of “An Honest Look at a Mysterious Journey” by John Stumbo. It’s about a life threatening illness that had no name so it became “The Stumbo Syndrome”. An account of God’s grace claimed.
