Lesson For The Week
This week I got to record my first piano quintet with some great people. I wrote the quintet with my friends in mind and it was great to hear all the parts come together. After each take, or run through, we would work together, talking over what needed to be adjusted or changed. It was a very humbling musical experience but I came away from it thinking, “How can I do it better?” Writing music on your own is one thing, but having a string player ask questions about ambiguous articulation can make you second guess yourself.
Lesson: Do your homework.
