Home Weekly Wanderings

June 23, 2012

If you are wondering where the Wanderings went, I have to apologize for getting behind my intended schedule for words. Family priorities seem to have gotten in the way…

Well, I’ve finally worked my way through Stanley Grenz’s “Women in the Miinistry” book. For me it’s pretty heavy theological reading. There are not just pro and con positions, but differences within each position. It will take me a while to digest it.

The next book on my reading list is “You Lost Me”, a book about why young Christians are leaving church and rethinking their faith. Written by Dave Kinneman of the Barna Group, it reports on thousands of interviews of eighteen to twenty nine year olds, and is pretty much echoes the seminar we went to a month ago out at Northwest University. It appears that the church, which once was on the leading edge of innovation and outreach, has grown static and doesn’t see that the leading edge is no longer sharp nor leading. I’ll add more as I learn more.
