Slides and Snacks!

Mar 25, 2013 | Posted by Emmanuel | Intern Blog |

Hi Emmanuel!

Would you believe it, I actually have something tech related to talk about! Did you all know that we have a new system for presenting things on Sunday morning? Hopefully not, although it would make my heart soar if I knew that you thought at some point “wow, those slides look awfully snazzy!”

Yes, we have made the move from good ol’ Proclaim to Pro Presenter 5! It’s a really fancy new software that’s super slick in design, and will just generally enable us to present to you a smoother Sunday service. It’s been a lot of fun learning the ropes of the new program, and I’m really excited to teach the rest of the tech team how to use it.
Speaking of, I kind of wanted to use my blog space today to do a little advertising for the tech team! Josh Norquist had the great idea of getting people from the church community involved in the process of making-church-happen. One of the many cogs in the grand machine that is Emmnuel Sunday service is the tech side. So, if you enjoy giving presentations, know how to use Powerpoint (because ProPresenter isn’t complicated at all, if you can display a presentation in Powerpoint, then I can teach you ProPresenter), and want to help out? You should let me know! Just pull me aside at church, and I’ll be happy to get that conversation rolling.

Now! As a thank you for listening to my little advertising spiel, I have a present! Last week, I made Chocolate Chip cookies for the first time in forever. This story is a little cheesy, so bear with me. You see, I had been talking to a few of the other interns, and someone mentioned the old Emmanuel tradition of baking bread. That reminded me, how long had it been since I’d baked anything? I realized what a shame that was– after all, baking is something that represents communities at their best. Pulling together a bunch of individual ingredients and forging something greater. Of course, the ingredients aren’t all the same, and they have very distinct personalities… But in the end, that’s what makes a great dish!
So, with that thought in my mind, I went about making these delicious bad boys. They turned out pretty good, so if anyone else is in the mood for some cheesy baking (er… cheesy in the form of sentiment, not actual cheese) then you guys should give this a try!
And that’s all for today. I hope everyone reading this is having a great day, and I can’t wait to see you all on Sunday.
