Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on him.  (John 3:36)

Looks like the option of two choices; either remain in the car stalled on the railroad tracks with the freight train bearing down on us, or stepping out of the car, out of the way, and choosing life.  Crude analogy, yeah, I suppose, but I don’t see the masses rushing to escape the oncoming .

Rejecting the offer of life doesn’t seem to be a problem for a lot of people.  Maybe life isn’t important enough.  For them it may be more important to be able to say, as one of my daughters once did, “ I do it myself”, and stay behind the steering wheel trying to start the car until all that can be seen is the glaring headlight at the window.  There has to be a belief that a step in the right direction is worth it.

The writer of the letter to the Hebrews 11:6 says it succinctly, “…And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him”.  (NIV)
