Aaron McConkey: Worship Director
Hello Emmanuel. Many of you reading this know me, but for those who don’t my name is Aaron McConkey, and I love my church.
I’ve been attending at Emmanuel for over 2 years now, and I’ve had to opportunity to witness and participate in an amazing part of our historic church’s history. Not to say that it’s all been easy, or even that it’s all been good, but I am proud to be part of the church that has served N. Fremont for over 82 years.
Our church now had dipped into, yet again, a new chapter. Many of you know, either from Sunday mornings or reading this blog, that we’ve gone through an interesting summer and fall. Our intern team increased in size 5 fold, from 2 to 10 people. Praise God. Our pastor has weathered an amazing surgery that has potentially relieved him, in part if not in whole, from a life of intense chronic pain. Praise God. We’ve experimented with seating arrangements, sanctuary decor, bulletins, music, and website content, all in an attempt to best be relevant to our neighborhood. We’ve committed large sums of time, energy, and dollars to the construction of a community cafe space, which is nearing completion.
It’s a tough, taxing, but amazingly positive time at Emmanuel. Thanks so much for your continued prayers, support, and encouragement. I believe I can speak for the intern team as a whole when I say that we feel a huge sense of potential and calling in what God has in store for His church.
