It’s been a quiet week at the Phinney Ridge Winter Men’s Shelter. Census is full and there is a waiting list, but the men are quiet. The forecast calls for rain with some showers and then more rain. I’d appreciate some good old Seattle drizzle. All this rain makes a person quiet. Nothing to do but wait for spring and try not to get depressed about it. People get depressed this time of year. Christmas is long gone. No Super Bowl to look forward to. Dry clothes help and are much appreciated and I thank the anonymous donor. It reminds me of what Jesus said. “Give in secret and your Father will reward you.”
It’s not easy to do sometimes. You have to put your name on the check, and then everybody knows it was you who gave what. Was it two cents? Maybe it was your last two cents. Better your last two cents than your extra millions. Like Jesus said about the widow’s giving. Most of us are so secure that we never see our last two cents.
There were some new faces at the Shelter this week. We’re glad to help. And some old faces are back from last year. It was good to see Skot. And good to see Ryan. We try to remember that it is God who brings these men to our doors.
Time for church. Shoot. The sun is out. Now where are those sunglasses? It’s so bright.
