Hello Emmanuel!

Many of you are most likely familiar with our weekly newsletter, ‘The Trumpet.’ What many of you may not realize is that this name originated from the publication produced at Emmanuel Tabernacle many years ago (at least the younger generation of the crew). The photo above is a cover from the April, 1938 edition!

Some other members of our leadership team found this 1938 edition while cleaning out one of the many rooms of our building. In the midst of discovering and appreciating this artifact- Emilee, Mimi and I are currently working on revamping the layout for our weekly ‘Trumpet’. Due to this discovery, our design decisions will be largely informed and inspired by the older ‘Trumpet’ editions discovered in the building.

The perfect patina on this old newsletter reminds me of my love for found objects, they can be so inspiring and informative. When striving to rebuild or research anything, scouring the given scene for historical artifacts and clues for ‘what was’ is of the utmost importance. These items are often jam-packed with wisdom and insight that we need not forget or take lightly. Emmanuel’s past is so rich and full of verve. It’s wonderful when our future plans and the remnants of our past can bleed together and hum a bit.

Found objects can be so inspiring, thus why I felt so strongly about sharing this one with you. Keep your eyes peeled for the ‘new’ Trumpet that will hit your inboxes in the next few weeks, and- as always- for any curious artifacts in your midst.
