Home Weekly Wanderings

May 3, 2013 | Posted by Emmanuel | Weekly Wanderings |

April 24, 2013

New beginnings.  Change of pace.  A fresh outlook.    Different viewpoints.  All of the above…

Sometimes it takes a fresh wind to blow the old cobwebs out of the attic.  Sometimes it takes a different hand lifting the window so a fresh wind can blow through.  Well, I think the window is up, and the breeze is bringing in a new scent.  Not a new message, you understand, but a new way to present it, a fresh voice to hear.

A new set of leaders has been chosen by the assembled body of Emmanuel.  Well, not a totally new set, but enough to suggest challenging approaches to doing church ministries.  The distaff side of the house now has a vote, not just a voice..

It will take a willing spirit on the part of everyone to fully understand what the mission of Emmanuel now is.  It’s meeting people on their turf; it’s offering help on their level; it’s shooting hoops with them, coffee at Starbucks or a Red Mill hamburger, or… you get the idea.

Oh.  And it’s probably going to take more than a penny in the offering plate.
